American musician Christine Ellen Hynde was born on September 7, 1951, in Akron, Ohio, U.S. She is one of the two remaining original members of the rock group the Pretenders, along with drummer Martin Chambers, and serves as the lead vocalist, guitarist, and primary songwriter for the group. Hynde was a Pretenders member who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2005. In 1985, she participated in Live Aid.
